Scraping B2B emails is a pain because most sites hide them behind contact forms or JS-rendered pages. We spent weeks building a headless browser that waits for the DOM to settle, then extracts the mailto links and any email in the DOM. We also use a mail server to catch emails from the site's own API responses. It's not perfect, but it gets us about 85% accuracy on the first pass, and we re-verify with a regex and a ping to the SMTP server.
The tricky part is deduplication. A company might have the same email in a few places, or a generic info@ for a large org. We run a fuzzy match on the company name and domain, then keep the most verifiable email (e.g., the one that appears in the footer or on the contact page). We also filter out temporary email domains like mailinator.com and throw out any that look like a personal Gmail. It's not 100% clean, but it's a lot better than the garbage you get from other lists.
We refresh the data every 30 days, but not all rows get updated equally. Some sites change their staff or block our crawlers, so we keep a changelog. For the CSV, we mark the last_verified date so you know how stale a record might be. If a lead bounces, you can send us the email and we'll swap it with a fresh one from our next crawl. That's the deal.
Data Schema & Dictionary
The actual email address we found on the company's website. This is the primary key for your outreach. Don't expect it to be 100% deliverable, but it's the best guess from the public web.
company_name
The legal name of the business. We pull this from the site's metadata or the footer. Useful for personalizing your first line and checking for duplicates.
domain
The root domain (e.g., acme.com) that the email belongs to. Helps you group contacts by company and avoid spamming the same domain with too many emails.
contact_page_url
The exact URL on the company's site where we found the email. If you want to double-check the context or see the person's title, go here. Also useful for segmentation by industry.
first_name
The person's first name, if we could infer it from the email (e.g., jdoe@ -> John). We parse it with a heuristic, so it's not always right. Don't rely on it for formal greetings.
last_name
The last name, inferred from the email. Same caveat as first_name. Use it to make your emails look less like spam, but verify before you send a contract.
title
The job title if we could extract it from the page's structured data or meta tags. Often missing. If it's there, it's a goldmine for targeting the right persona.
industry
We bucket companies into a few broad industries (tech, manufacturing, healthcare, etc.) based on their site's content and domain. Useful for filtering your campaign.
company_size
Estimated number of employees, scraped from LinkedIn or similar. It's a rough estimate. Use it to segment SMB vs enterprise, but don't quote it to a prospect.
last_verified
The date we last checked the email and it didn't bounce. This is your freshness indicator. If it's old, you're taking a risk.
