Scraping Indian B2B leads is a mess. Directories are either dead or paywalled, and the good data is hidden behind CAPTCHAs and broken forms. We spent weeks reverse-engineering the Indian MCA portal and GSTIN database to cross-reference company registrations. Finally got a pipeline that pulls CIN, GSTIN, and registered address in one shot. Still have to manually clean the phone numbers because half of them are fake or obsolete.

The real gold was in the government e-procurement tenders. We scraped the GeM portal and state-level tender sites to find companies that actually win contracts. That tells you who's spending money. Then we matched those with Udyam registration data to get the owner's name and contact. It's not perfect—some SMEs are run by a family with one phone number—but the hit rate is better than any private directory we've tried.

We initially tried using generic scrapers but they failed hard on Indian sites. The issue is the encoding and the way Indian companies format their addresses—no standard. We built a custom parser that handles Hindi transliterations and messy pin codes. Also had to handle the fact that many companies don't have a website. So we scrape Google Maps and Justdial for contacts. It's a hack, but it works. You get a raw CSV with whatever we could find, and you have to deal with it.
