Scraping ecommerce stores was a pain because most sites hide their contact page behind a captcha or a JS-rendered wall. We ended up building a headless browser cluster that rotates residential proxies and waits for the DOM to settle. After months of debugging, we now pull store URLs, emails, and social handles from product pages, about pages, and even the checkout code. The data isn't perfect, but it's solid enough to call a lead.

We started with Shopify and WooCommerce, since they cover 80% of the market. For Shopify, we parse the /products.json endpoint — easy win. WooCommerce is trickier because the REST API is disabled by default, so we fall back to scraping the sitemap and then the contact page. We also throw in Magento and BigCommerce, but those are messier. The result is a file that mixes clean records with some junk, but we've cleaned it enough that you won't waste time on dead ends.

The hardest part is deduplication. A store might have multiple domains, or it appears on a marketplace and its own site. We built a fuzzy matching algorithm that compares store names, domains, and social handles. It's not perfect, but it catches about 95% of dupes. We also tag stores by platform and product category, which you can use to filter your outreach. We're not claiming this is a goldmine, but if you're selling services to online stores, this is a decent starting point.
