Scraping mailing list sellers is a pain. Most of them hide their prices behind a 'request a quote' form, and their websites are a mess of pop-ups and cookie banners. We had to reverse-engineer their internal APIs just to get the actual list sizes and pricing tiers. Also, some of them are straight-up resellers of the same data, so we had to write a dedup script that compares MD5 hashes of sample records. It's not perfect, but it's better than selling you the same list twice.

The real goldmine was the 'about us' pages and press releases. Found a bunch of niche brokers that don't even show up in Google Ads. They publish their list counts in PDF brochures, so we had to build a PDF parser that extracts tables and figures. One guy had a 50-page PDF with every list he ever sold, including the date and price. That's the kind of data that tells you if a broker is active or just a zombie site. We also scraped their SSL certificate dates to see if they've renewed in the last year.

We spent two weeks just cleaning the phone numbers. Some of them were formatted like '+1 (800) 555-1234', others were '1.800.555.1234', and a few were just '8005551234'. We wrote a regex that normalizes everything to E.164, but then we found out that some numbers are used by multiple brokers, so we added a 'verified' flag based on whether the number is listed on the broker's site and whether it's in the Do Not Call registry. That's not a guarantee, but it filters out the worst junk.

Data Schema & Dictionary

broker_name

The official name of the mailing list broker. This is the company you'd actually contract with. If they're a reseller, you'll see a note in 'source_type'.

website_url

The URL of the broker's site. We only include sites that are live at the time of scrape. If the site is down, we don't waste your time.

list_count

The number of unique lists they advertise. This is a raw count, not a measure of quality. A high count might mean they're a reseller or they have junk lists.

price_range

The minimum and maximum price per thousand records (CPM) if published. If not published, we put 'quote only'. That's a red flag if you need transparent pricing.

data_types

Comma-separated list of data types they sell, like 'B2B', 'B2C', 'Email', 'Phone', 'Postal'. Helps you filter at a glance.

last_scraped

The ISO date we last scraped their site. We refresh quarterly, but if a broker updates their site more often, you might see stale info.

source_type

Either 'primary' or 'reseller'. Primary means they are the originator of the data. Reseller means they buy from others. We flag resellers because they usually have higher prices and less control over quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fresh is this data?
We scrape the broker sites on the 1st of each quarter. If a broker updates their site in between, you'll have to wait for the next scrape. If you find a broken link or a dead broker, tell us and we'll swap the credit. But don't expect real-time updates on a raw CSV.
Do you verify the actual email lists?
No. We verify that the broker exists and has a website, but we don't buy their lists and test them. That would be a huge time sink. You're getting the metadata: who they are, what they claim to sell, and their pricing. The rest is up to your own risk assessment.
Can I get a sample before buying?
There's a 5-row sample in the product page. That's it. If you need more, you're asking for a freebie. We're not in the business of giving away the whole database for free. If you have a specific question about a field, ask in the chat and we'll answer if we can.
