The hardest part was deduplication. Companies appear multiple times with different spellings (e.g., 'Amazon Web Services' vs 'AWS'). We wrote a fuzzy matching algorithm that reduces false positives to under 2%. Also had to handle companies that use AWS but don't mention it publicly, so we added signals like job postings for 'AWS engineer'.

We cross-referenced the data with LinkedIn company pages to get employee counts and industries. The data is as of the last crawl, which we run on the 1st of every month. If you find a stale record, we'll swap it out. No questions asked.

Data Schema & Dictionary

Company Name

The legal name of the company. If a company uses AWS, it's here. Don't expect nicknames or subsidiaries unless they have their own public presence.

AWS Services Used

A comma-separated list of specific AWS services mentioned in public sources. If we only see 'AWS' without specifics, it'll just say 'AWS'. This is useful for targeting companies that use specific services like EC2 or S3.

Industry

The sector the company operates in (e.g., Technology, Finance, Healthcare). We infer this from LinkedIn or their website. It's not perfect, but it's good enough for segmentation.

Employee Count

Number of employees as reported by LinkedIn. This is a range (e.g., '201-500') because exact numbers are proprietary. Use it to filter for company size.

First Seen Date

The date we first detected this company using AWS. This helps you identify early adopters or track when a company started their cloud migration.

Last Confirmed Date

The most recent date we confirmed the company still uses AWS. If it's been over a year, the data might be stale, but we'll still sell it to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fresh is this data?
We scrape it on the 1st of every month. If you find a company that's wrong or out of date, tell us and we'll swap the credit. Simple.
How do you know a company uses AWS?
We look at public sources: case studies, job postings, tech blogs, and press releases. If they mention AWS or list AWS skills, we include them. We don't do any secret tracking. It's all public info.
