Scraping mailing list buyer intent data is a mess. Google's SERP is a wall of SEO spam and affiliate junk. We had to build a custom crawler that filters out 'how to build a list' articles and focuses on transactional queries like 'buy email list for real estate'. Took 3 weeks to get the classifier to stop flagging list brokers as buyers.

The real gold was in Quora threads and Reddit comments. People literally ask 'where to buy a targeted email list' and then get ghosted by spammers. We extracted those threads, mapped them to business domains, and enriched with LinkedIn URLs. The catch: 40% of the domains are dead or parked. We cleaned the rest manually. Painful but worth it.

We hit a wall with LinkedIn's auth wall. Scraping company pages without API access is a cat-and-mouse game. Finally, we used headless browsers with rotating proxies and solved 90% of the captchas. Data Schema & Dictionary

company_domain

The official website domain of the company (e.g., acme.com). This is your primary key for cross-referencing with other tools. If it's dead, you'll know within a month.

buyer_intent_keyword

The exact search query or phrase that triggered the 'buying a mailing list' signal. This tells you what niche they're in—don't pitch a general list to someone searching for 'real estate agents'.

source_url

The URL where the intent was detected (e.g., a Quora thread or a subreddit). This lets you verify the context and see if the lead is worth pursuing. Spoiler: many are tire-kickers.

employee_count

Estimated number of employees based on our enrichment. Use this to filter out solo founders who can't afford your product. Anything under 10 is probably a waste of time unless you sell cheap.

linkedin_company_url

The LinkedIn company page URL. This is your path to a human—use it to find the marketing manager and skip the generic inbox. Works 20% of the time, which is better than cold email.

last_active_date

The last time the company interacted with a mailing list provider (e.g., visited a pricing page). If this is older than 90 days, they might have already bought. Act fast.
