Scraping this niche was a nightmare because of the fragmented data sources. We had to parse FINRA BrokerCheck, SEC ADV filings, and a pile of state registries. The names were easy, but the emails were buried in PDFs and sometimes behind captchas. After a month of regex hell, we got a clean extraction pipeline that pulls 40k+ records monthly.

The hardest part was deduplicating the data. Wealth managers switch firms, change emails, and sometimes have the same name as their cousin. We built a fuzzy matching algorithm that checks firm, address, and phone to merge duplicates. False positive rate is under 2%. We also flag emails that look like they were generated by a bot (i.e., "jdoe@firm.com") because those bounce more.

We tried to get emails from LinkedIn, but that got us banned twice. So we pivoted to scraping the firm's own websites, press releases, and conference speaker lists. The result is a mix of direct emails and generic info@ addresses. We mark the generic ones in the schema so you can filter them out if you want. It's not perfect, but it's the best you'll get without paying $10k for a list.

Data Schema & Dictionary

first_name

First name of the wealth manager. We pulled it from the SEC ADV or FINRA. Useful for personalizing your cold emails. If it's a company name, this field is blank.

last_name

Last name. Same source as first_name. Don't assume the gender from this; we've seen 'Pat' and 'Alex' a lot.

email

Direct work email if we could find it, otherwise a generic like info@ or contact@. We flag the generic ones in the 'is_generic' field. Bounce rate is around 7% on the direct ones, 15% on the generic ones.

firm_name

The registered investment advisor (RIA) or broker-dealer they work for. This is the firm that shows up on their business card. If they're independent, it's their own company name.

firm_phone

Main phone number of the firm. We don't scrape direct lines because those are usually unpublished. If you call this, expect to go through a receptionist.

city

City of the primary office. We get this from the SEC ADV. It's the office where they're registered, not necessarily where they sit.

state

State abbreviation. Useful for regional campaigns. We have all 50 states, plus DC and Puerto Rico.

aum_millions

Assets under management in millions of USD. This is from the most recent SEC ADV filing. It's a good proxy for how big the firm is, but it's not exact because some firms have multiple offices.

is_generic

Boolean flag: TRUE if the email is a generic (info@, contact@) and FALSE if it looks like a direct email. Filter this to TRUE if you want to avoid the generic ones.

source

Where we got the email from: 'website', 'press_release', 'conference', or 'other'. This can help you prioritize which emails are more likely to be accurate.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fresh is this data?
We scrape it on the 1st of every month. If you buy it mid-month, it's still fresh. We update the file on our server and you get a new link. If an email bounces, tell us and we swap the credit. Simple.
Why are some emails generic like info@?
Because not every wealth manager publishes their direct email. We scrape what's publicly available. If they have a direct email on their site, we get it. If not, we grab the firm's generic. You can filter those out with the 'is_generic' field. Don't blame us, blame their marketing team.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes, we'll send you a 100-row sample for free. Just email us. But don't expect the sample to be the best rows. It's random. You want the whole thing, pay up.
What's the bounce rate?
Overall, about 7-8%. That's lower than most lists. We verify emails with a regex and a SMTP check that doesn't trigger a catch-all. But no list is perfect. If you get more than 10% bounce, we'll give you a refund for the bounces. Deal?
Do you have GDPR compliance?
We only collect public business contact info. We're not scraping personal emails. That said, if someone asks to be removed, we add them to a suppression list and you get that list with your purchase. You're responsible for how you use the data. Don't be a creep.
