Scraping mailing lists by zip code is a game of whack-a-mole with USPS data. We had to cross-reference NCOA every 90 days or our bounce rates went through the roof. Finally automated the whole pipeline with a mix of Python and Postgres, now we can pull a fresh list for any zip in under 30 seconds.

The biggest pain was handling the ZIP+4 variations. Most vendors just give you the 5-digit, but that's useless for hyper-local targeting. We built a geocoder that snaps to the correct carrier route, so you get actual address-level accuracy. Took us three months to get it right, but now it's just another API call.

We tried scraping the USPS website directly, but they block you after 100 requests. So we sidestepped the whole thing by using property tax records and census data, then cross-referencing with voter registration. It's not perfect, but it gets you 95% coverage, which is better than any seller out there.

Data Schema & Dictionary

ZIP Code

The 5-digit postal code. This is your primary key for filtering. If you're targeting a specific area, this is the column you'll be running WHERE clauses on.

Street Address

The full physical address including house number and street name. No PO boxes, no rural routes. If it's a multi-unit building, we list the unit number. This is what you print on the envelope.

City

The city name as recognized by USPS. Don't assume it matches the county or what Google says. We've got the official postal city, so your mail doesn't get returned.

State

Two-letter state abbreviation. Self-explanatory, but you'd be surprised how many people mess this up in their filters.

Carrier Route

The USPS carrier route code. This is the secret sauce for presorting and getting discounted postage. If you're sending bulk mail, this column saves you money.

Delivery Point

The two-digit delivery point code. Used for barcoding and tracking. You won't use this directly, but it's there if you need it.

Latitude

Decimal latitude coordinate. Great for geofencing or mapping. We didn't round it off, so you get precision to 6 decimal places – that's enough to pinpoint a house.

Longitude

Decimal longitude coordinate. Same deal as latitude. Combine the two and you can build a heatmap of your market.

Residential Indicator

Binary flag: 1 if the address is residential, 0 if it's a business. Use this to filter out commercial addresses if you're doing door-to-door sales.

Last Updated

The date this record was last verified. We refresh the entire database monthly, but this tells you exactly when each row was touched. If it's older than 90 days, you might want to run a NCOA check.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fresh is this data?
We scrape it on the 1st of the month. If it bounces, tell us and we swap the credit. Simple.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yeah, sure. Send me your email and I'll send you a CSV with 100 random rows from the zip code of your choice. No strings attached, just don't spam me.
What's the minimum order?
You can buy as little as one zip code if you want, but it's not cost-effective. Most people buy by county or state. We charge per thousand records, so the more you buy, the cheaper per record.
Can I use this for cold email?
You can, but I wouldn't. This is physical mailing data. If you want email addresses, that's a different product. We have a separate list with business emails, but it's scraped from websites, so use it at your own risk.
Why is the data cheaper than other providers?
Because we don't have a sales team or a fancy office. We're a couple of engineers who wrote a scraper and a database. We don't upsell, we don't have a 'premium' tier, we just sell raw data. That's it.
