We tried scraping USPS data directly first. Terrible idea. Their API is a wall of captchas and rate limits. Ended up aggregating from county assessor records, voter rolls, and a few paid sources. Cross-referenced with NCOA to drop the dead weight. Took 3 months to get the pipeline stable. Now it runs on a cron job every Monday night.

The tricky part was normalizing zip+4 codes across states. Some counties format them as 5-digit, some include the +4, and a few just say 'various'. We wrote a parser that handles all the edge cases. Also had to deal with PO boxes - some buyers want them, some don't. So we added a column for that. Don't ask how many hours I lost to this.

We originally wanted to include phone numbers. Then we realized that would turn this into a telemarketing nightmare. So we stuck with physical addresses and emails (when available). If you need phones, go buy them elsewhere. We're not getting sued over TCPA violations for a $99 CSV.

Data Schema & Dictionary

zip_code

The 5-digit USPS zip code. That's the key you're filtering on. If you don't know why you need this, you're in the wrong place.

city

The city name as per USPS. Don't blame us if it's misspelled - that's how the post office has it.

state

Two-letter state abbreviation. For example, CA, TX, NY. We didn't invent this format.

county

The county name. Useful if you want to target rural areas or avoid certain jurisdictions. We get this from public records, so it's usually accurate.

address_line1

The street address. This is the part your mail carrier actually reads. We standardized it to USPS format, so it should be deliverable.

address_line2

Apartment, suite, unit, etc. Often empty. If it's empty, that means no secondary unit exists. Don't complain about it.

is_po_box

TRUE if the address is a PO box. Some campaigns hate PO boxes. Others love them. Filter as you wish.

last_updated

The date we last verified this record. It's in ISO 8601 format. If it's older than 6 months, you might want to run your own validation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fresh is this data?
We scrape it on the 1st of the month. If it bounces, tell us and we swap the credit. Simple. But don't expect real-time updates - we're not a streaming service.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes, we'll send you 50 random rows. Just give us a zip and we'll generate a sample. If you want more than that, you're basically asking for free data. No.
Do you provide emails or phone numbers?
No. This is a mailing list - physical addresses only. We have email for some records, but it's unreliable. If you need phones, go somewhere else. We're not risking TCPA fines.
